NO HEART

This team sickens me. Where are the come-from-behind victories? Really, does anyone really think this team is any good? Sheesh.

Seriously, am I the only one who feels that, if they can fix their god-awful bullpen, the Devil Rays could actually be sort of...you know, good? Their offense has a ton of potential - if these guys stay healthy, and stick around for a couple years, the lineup would actually be sort of scary. That's a weird thing to say, given they're the Devil Rays.

Meanwhile, this whole Patriots thing really confuses me. They're arguable the best team in football, and so the whole thing makes no sense. One upside: one of the people complaining about the Pats cheating is Shawn Merriman, which is awesome.

  1. To be honest, I was minimally worried about the Rays at the start of THIS season. The offense should be huge (though, oddly, they don't rank well in RS league-wide), they have one young ace and now a solid second guy in Shields... add a couple decent RP's and one more SP - maybe a vet #3 - and all of a sudden they're a .500 team at least and vying for 3rd place.

  2. Tongue in check aside, I am actually nervous about this weekend. Earl you said it in person when we watch the game at Grieve's house, the Red Sox aren't playing impressive baseball. Yea, I know all the stuff about not coming from behind is BS, but are people confident about taking 2 out of 3 this weekend? I am not.

  3. No heart indeed. Back from down 7 last night and tonight a Papi walk off. I'm sure the naysayers will be talking crap about how it is "only" the D-rays. Never mind that the D-rays were 14-4 in their last 17 games and had beaten the yanks 2 of 3.

Agree with Andrew that they could be a team that needs to be reckoned with. Their runs post ASB are actually 4th in the AL (and really close to third). Kazmir and Shields are a foundation and they have some young guys coming - Price, Howell and maybe Sonnastine. Probably their worst mistake was not trading Rocco when he had some value.

The Yankee fan in the office is chirping about this weekend, a sweep etc. I told him I was just glad the sox had 10 game lead for the WC.....
