There oughta be a law

Given the sudden absence of baseball in my life, I'm watching the Patriots-Falcons game, despite not really caring much about football. I was really excited to learn Atlanta has a guy named "Alge Crumpler". Which should be the most awesome football name ever - except he's a tight end. And then some guy on the Patriots named "Patrick Pass" rushes for 6 yards. This is not right.

  1. And I'm sure someone, somewhere is still stunned from getting hit very hard by a defensive back named Randall Gay.

  2. You really should be wathcing the Braves-Stros. Berkman hit a GS to cut the lead to 6-5 in the 8th. the Ausmus hit a 2 out HR in the bottom of the 9th to tie it. both HRs were off the Fonz - who throws some serious gas, but they are right down the middle, which just goes to show that Hansen and little Manny must mix up their offspeed pitches.

  3. Good point about Gay. The New England Patriots: shattering hurtful stereotypes everywhere!

Yeah, I'm watching baseball now. I switched it off when the Braves seemed sure to tie the series. Astros on their 7th pitcher -- nice.

Can't decide whether to root for the Astros. Good: Biggio/Bagwell/Berkman/Oswalt/Ausmus /Ensberg are all guys it's easy to root for; former Yankee pitchers having career years; the owner wants to win. Bad: Phil Garner, Hick fans. Also conflicted about the Braves: they were my least favorite NL team through all the 90's, and their fans are even worse, but what the team has done the last 3 years is just amazing. Hard not to be impressed by Bobby Cox. (At least we don't have to watch Jane Fonda do the Tomahawk Chop anymore.)

...going into the 14th...will Roger pitch?

  4. ...maybe, but first he'll hit.

Seriously. Came in as a pinch hitter, laid down a sacrifice bunt.

  5. Braves "fans." that is kind of an oxymoron. If there is a game 5, plenty of good seats available:

  8. No idea. Puts new meaning to my comment about Houston's "Hick fans", huh?

  9. Well that was exciting. I think I'm going to the movies. I don't want to watch this Yankee game. Surprised by this Lackey move. I don't like it. but I hope chacon gets rocked. The rain helped since Joe can bring in Small again after Chacon gives up his 5 runs in the first 3 innings.

  11. 2-0 Angels on consecutive doubles by Figgins and Cabrera in the 6th, Lackey 1-hitting the Yanks.

  12. Well I came back to the game 2-1 Angels. 7th inning. but I knew what was coming. typical. now we just have to hope colon has his A game. and even if Rivera can come back tomorrow you have to wonder how effective he'll be. But we can just hope it is 8-2 Angels by the 5th or 6th.
